Maui Wedding Association (MWA)

Mission Statement, Standards of Membership and Code of Ethics

(from Amended Bylaws adopted March 27, 2007)

 

Mission Statement

The mission of this Association is to bring together businesses to promote the advancement of the Maui wedding industry, to offer opportunities for professional growth through education and the sharing of ideas, and to foster a caring attitude and Aloha spirit among members in dealings with the community, with clients, and with each other.

 

Standards of Membership

Members shall:

(a) Pay dues upon application for new membership, or not later than 60 days after the beginning of the member's anniversary date for renewal of membership.

(b) Pay bills due the Association within 60 days after receipt of request for payment.

(c) Comply with federal, state and local laws pertaining to the wedding industry.

(d) Adhere to the Bylaws and Code of Ethics of the Association and comply with Association rules and procedures.

 

Code of Ethics

Members shall:

(a) Represent each client fairly and honestly.

(b) Deal with vendors fairly and honestly, paying for their services in a timely manner.

(c) Treat fellow wedding professionals with courtesy.

(d) Use factual, verifiable advertising and provide, upon request by the Board of Directors, the evidence on which any advertising is based.

(e) Refrain from making false or misleading statements about fellow members, their businesses, or their business practices.

(f) Refrain from using a position or office in the Association to obtain unfair advantage over fellow members.
